i5-2500K
P8P67 Pro
XMS3 2x2GB DDR3-1600

Been trying to overclock to 4Ghz but ran into a few problems

1) my CPU frequency fluctuates when at idle and load. I know theres an option to disable this but can't remember it or if its the same for P67.

2) my multiplier is at 40x for 4Ghz with my cpu voltage at 1.25. I return to Win7 and run Prime95 and CPUz shows my voltage at 1.16 and frequency at the stock 3.3Ghz so apparently my OC didn't work.

so yeah I'm completely lost at what to do now.

post a ss of your BIOS setting

1) disable turbo or set it to high performance or something. play around with your BIOS... it's your new friend for now :D

2) make sure you get the right CPU-Z... go google CPU-Z Sandy Bridge Kit, or use programs developed by ASUS to monitor those voltages

At above WTF!!!!!

If you have the option set the XMP profile for your ram so it runs the correct timings. Any time I let the Asus suite overclock my rig for me it ALWAYS set my ram to a higher freq. and made the timings to tight to get a stable over clock, not to mention clocking the BLCK (base clock) to 105!!!!!

Leave most of the settings on auto incld the vcore and set the turbo mode to all cores and set to x42 or x44 and see how you go. Watch the temps and then tweak accordingly, if you do not know what a settings does in the bios DO NOT CHANGE it.

Also the new SB cpus are made to throttle up and down according to useage....if not doing anything they idle at around 1.6Ghz and then ramp up to whatever the overclock you have when needed....DO NOT DISABLE THE STEPPING to have it at 4.4ghz or whatever 24/7
