Ok I tried to research this but nothing is helping me. I am in the process of building a Home theater with my HD tv right now in process of buying a hd dvd player and some speakers. Now right now i don't have hd through my cable company or whatever but that i should be getting soon. Now what i am asking is what so i need to get for max experience. I need to know what wires, if i have to get some sort of receiver or if what my cable provider gives me is it or if i have to buy one. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

It's a very opened question, but first I would define a budget. That will sure be your limiting factor for the max experience for your money.

well price isn't an option i am just trying to figure out everything from wires to receiver, dvd player etc.. i just want to know what anyone has to start basing what i am goin to get

I don't think you realize how high up it is for "max experience"

This number could be well over 100,000 green backs.

But for a true HD experience you would need:
A true 7.1 Channel audio setup (with a real non home theater subwoofer)
A receiver that can decode TrueHD or similar audio stream (Onkyo 8505, Denon 3808).
A Playback device that supports Blueray and TrueHD Audio/DTS-HD Audio
A Playback device that supports HD DVD and TrueHD Audio/DTS-HD Audio
HDMI Cables for all connections to HD Media
An XBOX 360 elite for HDMI xbox live gaming
A Sony PS3 for all gaming that is sony
A media server that could run waaay into the range of expensive for external storage of your HD media (http://www.kaleidascape.com)

That sir can get really expensive.

you could spend 10,000 dollars on just cables/wiring....

step 1 in home theater, GET A BUDGET... :p Give me a budget, and i can help you.

I think he's referring to a sound reinforcement sub which does not pertain to the OP's situation.

Why would one bother with a sound reinforcement sub such as the Danley TH115 in a possibly small closed enviroment.

To OP, post your room dimensions and your budget as stated previously

Well, here's just a few "open-ended" suggestions:
1) You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on Monster Cables. You can do just fine with other brands at less than half the price. Just make sure they're shielded very well and gold contacts also helps.
2) DO NOT buy those all-in-one surround sound packages. Buy a good A/V amp, a good set of surround speakers, and a nice sub(depending on room size, a 10" will work fine)
3) If you're getting a new DVD player(not Blu Ray or HD), you might as well get an upconverting one. They can be bought for about the same price as a regular DVD player.
4) If you're gonna get HD from your cable company, they will provide you with the necessary receiver. I would try to get a DVR out of it too ;)
Some good low to mid-price A/V receivers- Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha
Some good low to mid-price surround speakers- I have a set of Klipsch Quintets with a 10" sub and the sound just rocks my living room! I personally think Bose are a bit overpriced.
I'm no expert, but I hope that helped!
