Need help with gaming SFF

Well basically I have a budget of about $1600, and I'm trying to figure out a good high end gaming sff build. I have never built an sff before and I don't really know much about what will fit into one. I was thinking about going with a quad core cpu (q6600 probably) but I also want to fit a 8800gtx in there (and i dont know which kind of case can support that).

So if anyones got a good build for me (including all parts for under 1600) please post :) thanks!
 
Well, the SG03 is probably your best bet if you want a 8800GTX vid card. Its a tower-like SFF case. Think mini-tower and thats pretty close to it. For a Q6600 you'll also want a NT06-Lite hsf to go with it. Mobo choice comes down to wether you plan to overclock or not. If you want to overclock the DS2R and the P5K-VM are you only two real good choices. Most people that are OCing their Q6600s are using the DS2R as the preferred mobo. RAM choices are plentiful. I think most are going with the 667 variety. Crucial Balistix are very popular and not overly expensive. You'll want a nice psu to go with it. I would say the Corsair HX620w would fit the bill nicely. It fits inside the SG03 and will run a 8800GTX quite nicely. It'll also allow you to OC if you so desire. The Corsair HX520w will do the job as well but if you plan to OC the HX620w gives you more legroom for that and future upgrades. The HX620w is also modular so you only use the cords you need and this makes it easier on wiring maitenance.

The rest you'll need to decide what you want. For a hardrive anything from a regular SATA drive to a RAPTOR will work fine. There are some cheap SATA optical drives too you can choose from for your CD/DVD needs.

P5K-VM (for overclocking, long IDE cables)
GA-G33M-DS2R (for not overclocking.)
8800GTX
2GB of something.

DVD burner of sorts.
320GB Seagate
Silverstone ST50EF or ST60F (modular) with short cables.
NT06 for additional CPU cooling. Not sure how well the stock cooler fares in the SG03.
Fans.

Comes out at $1500 for everything without a question mark, P5K-VM, and the ST60F. Roughly. Throw in $80 for the sound card, $20 for wireless.
 
Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys. I was wondering though, are there any smaller cases that can still fit the 8800gtx? I plan on traveling with this computer a lot and airline attendants tend to give me shit even with a mid tower.
 
the gigabyte board is better for you.
the sugo 3 is a great case with 2 120mm fans in the front if you want, and it will still have enough room for your gtx.:D

The gigabyte board is awesome but it should be noted that you need good ram with it. With a 266FSB CPU it will not run a 1:1 ratio. The lowest it will go is 1:1.25 so to do 400FSB you need ram thatll hit at least DDR2-1000.

Just a heads up since alot of threads dont mention it, I found out after I bought it.

Or you can just get a 333FSB CPU (E6x50) which will let you use the 1:1 divider. If you read the thread GA-G33M-DS2R, it should give more info about it, a lot of that thread is about the dividers and overclocking capabilities.
