Im trying to find a new psu for my friend and he has this computer

thats a shot of the psu, I'm just guessing its mATX
Another thing that worries me is this picture which shows an akward assortment of where the fan and power thing are located, I'm not so sure you can just throw any old mATX or whatever it form it may be, PSU in there because of this.

Last question is, he has a northwood at 3.4 ghz and his psu is 250 watts, he has one hdd, and basically two tiny fans, I'm thinking of getting him this card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814141038
does he even need a new psu for this card seeing as it probably only needs 12A on the rail

Looks like a propietary psu, so it's not matx. An Matx wont fit this case.

Board is also off the wall, so no drop in board replacement will be possible.

You should be fine with that setup.

Ockie is right it is an OEM PSU that is special build. There is no drop in replacement according to FSP.

so to confirm do you think that the 6800xt will run with a 250watt psu

Give it a whirl. Those good SFF's are designed to have really limited options so you can't add as much and overlaod the smaller PSU's as easily.
