I was wondering where one could purchase extension wires for all of the front panel cables for your power switch, reset button, hardrive activity indicator, front panel usb ports ect. I am looking into buying a case that I here has very short cable lengths and may need to extend them to reach my motherboard.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

ckett, I've never had that problem, as most cases have more than enough wire to reach anything on the motherboard. Only exception I can think of is the occasional front sound port connection wires on cases that are long, front to back. Most of the time, for usb & motherboard switch/led connectors, there's usually more of a problem with where to roll up and stash the extra wire, ya know?

Can you tell us which case, and which motherboard you're thinking of putting in there?

I will be using a Gigabyte EX58-UD4P motherboard.

The case is the Lian Li PC-C34F.

I might just cute the wires, then solder in an extension wire piece if it is really needed.

I read a motherboard review once, that in order to make it easier to get the front panel wires connected, included an intermediate block, which you plugged the wires into, then plugged the block into the motherboard. (Asus P5Q) I would think that if you could find pin blocks at Radio Shack or somewhere else, an extender wouldn't be hard to make. I've been thinking about that too. Having a quick connect on the case adjacent to the motherboard would be cool, then only having 3" or so of wiring to worry about. Route the wires to wherever you want, then a pigtail from point A to point B. I haven't found any for sale yet, but if a person had an old crap-tastic motherboard lying around, the necessary pieces could be removed and altered.
