I don't mind ECS motherboards, but a lot of people just keep the CPU from the Fry's combo, sell the ECS board and buy another one.

Most of the cheap ECS LGA775 combo boards at Fry's are pretty lousy overclockers, unless you do a hardware mod when there's FSB head room.

If you don't care about overclocking, that 945GCT-M board isn't bad, especially considering it's essentially free (or cheaper) for the combo price. The biggest limitation is that it only supports up to DDR2-667 memory. It will work in a microATX or regular ATX case. It has 2 PCI-E video cards slots, one x16 (standard) and one gimped x4 signal slot. Your PCI-E video card should fit and work fine in the x16 slot. The 2nd PCI-E slot should also work. I haven't tried CrossFire in mine.

Dude the motherboard is not very good...Its a 945 chipset /old and you need an msi or intel ,asus, abit something much better than the ecs..Your cpu is killer and the mobo offers no oclocking at all and you would be much faster with a 965 or p35 chipset...When you buy the cpu it makes the motherboard almost free, that should tell you something.Using a killer cpu and video card on that motherboard is a sin...Spend a bit more and get newer technology to go along with your other excellent parts...Remember your motherboard is the foundation for your system...build the empire state building on plastic and see what happens...the ecs board is like for a general office computer....and ecs pc chips is the same company and they are the low line boards....Just something to think about...Of course if you just dont have the cash and have to use it just plan on saving for a much better board...Yes the micro board will fit in the mid tower atx case...also ecs has alot of board failures also so good luckand have fun............

Well I am a college student so I would rather not spend more money than I have too by getting a new mobo. Basically what I want to know is will this get the job done without bottlecaping my vid card or mobo

the only bottleneck will be the memory. while you can probably use ddr800 ram in that board, the bios will underclock the memory to ddr667. the pci express slot is a full 16 bit lane, so the only question is whether you're ok with paying for ddr800 but only getting ddr667 speed.
