A friend of mine needs help building a budget rig for his little sister to play sims2 and other games on. Does anyone have any exprience with the onboard video of nforce2, or the onboard S3 UniChrome2 3D/2D graphics on some of the AMD64 mobos like the DFI K8M800-MLVF? It seems like when i go the route of separate video card, we go over budget. The budget is about $500 US for cpu, mobo, ram, case, video. I'm looking at either XP 2600 barton, abit nf7-s with separate fx5900XT, and 512mb ram, or nf7-m with onboard video and 1gb ram. My other option was to get the DFI AMD64 board with onboard video and get the Sempron 3100+ cpu (this would leave the possibility for future upgrade to 64bit cpu). Any thoughts?

Thanks,

When looking at playing games, onboard video goes out the window. You should be able to pick up a 5900 or 5700 for a decent price now that the new models are out, the same applies to the 9600XT.
I would then look at the AMD64 route, with at least 512MB RAM, 1gb if you can afford it. All mobos have onboard sound, so no sound card needed.
If you can't afford that, the Barton is a good option.
