Need help with adding SATA connectors & PCI compability

I am migrating from an older server setup to a Lenovo TS140.
The TS140 has 5 SATA ports. I have used 4 so far (optical disc, SSD, HDD1, HDD2).
As part of my migration I also want to port two drive bays for removable drives. Therefore, I need 2 more SATA connectors.

My old setup did not support hotswap SATA. Also, at some point I had the idea to use RAID to mirror drives (no longer the case). However, I still need true SATA hotswap controller support. Due the limitations of my old setup I bought a LSI MegaRaid flashed as M1015.

So, one idea was to port this SATA card into my new TS140. However, the M1015 SATA is a PCI-Express 2.0 x8.
The TS140 has only x1 and x16 slots

Can I insert the M1015 card into a x16?
 
Yes you can it will only use the electrical connectors the physical card has. You can even put a x1 card in a x16 slot if you wanted to and it would work properly.
 
Thanks. Installed and worked.
The only problem I have with this particular RAID controller (LSI - M1015) is that when the PC boots up without the backup hot swap drives present I posts that fact and asks to hit a key to continue.
I would like the SATA controller simply to ignore and continue booting. But so far I could not find a setting in the SATA controller bios.
If anyone know how to bypass...
Also, is this common on SATA controllers?
