Need help with a tiny case for WHS.

So, I've had this bug to build a nice sweet WHS setup, mainly for things like backups, Tivo rips, and time machine backups. I figure the HP Mediasmarts have been nice, but I prefer to have something I'll be able to get parts for later. Currently, I'm looking at a Socket 775 mb in a Mini-ITX form factor (E6550 for the proc). I'm planning on RAID1, but I'd like to add more drives later and maybe move to RAID5. For me, the biggest issue is case size. I'm a laptop user, so I kinda like things being "out of the way". As it is, the fiancée hates seeing the Media Center chugging away under the TV... but it works.

See the running theme here? Less than 12" deep, short and thin. I'm sticking this behind her iMac to keep it out of the way. I'm hoping to accomplish RAID by using a 4-bay 5.25" chassis, such as this one...

Any help? Ideas? I've also looked for a "5.25 slim" 2 bay RAID, but I can't find one. I'm trying to find the perfect case for this setup.

Yeah... That's a little too costly. I can't find a case that uses 2.5" drives for raid. I know it's a little different, but my Prolaints use 2.5" SAS drives... why hasn't this form factor caught on for home use?

Probably due to expense and limited storage per drive in comparison to your typical 3.5 inch drives.


Course, you could always build your own. ;)
