Hey guys, below are the parts i'm going to buy. I'm looking at overclocking the 2500Mobile, but need help choosing a HSF that wont cost too much but still give me great temps. The choice i'm thinking is the Zalman ALCU unit... Can i have some suggestions/comments on this HSF and if you know something better please give me a heads up.

But will this hsf be good for oc'ing? i cant seem to find any reviews of this Zalman hsf. Will it allow for good temp at 14x over clock? Or should i consider THERMALRIGHT? Please give me som einfo guys! My fate of pc oc'ing depends on YOU! lol thanks

i have an OC'ed P4 system and im using the SP-94 heatsink along with the smartfan2 which i think the heatsink is made by thermalright and the fan is made by thermaltake. they make an AMD version of the SP-94 but i dont know what the model name is. the heatsink is an all copper heatsink with 3 heatpipes going through the bottom and up to the top of the fins where the heat is dispelled. my P4 2.4C is @ 3.2Ghz and i could make it go a lot higher but im rather content with wheres im at. :D

More importantly, what revision is that DFI board? I thought I remember seeing something about stability issues on that board. Check it out. I would go with an MSI or Chaintech, personally. In fact, you could probably get this board cheaper and it is better. (I know newegg doesn't ship to Canada, it's just a suggestion) ;) MSI Board. And, I used to use a Thermaltake Volcano 11 for my 1700+. It's loud, but it does come with a fan controller. I was getting to about 1.6 stable with a Palomino.

I was really very, very happy with my Vantec Aeroflow...nice and quiet and cooled like a mofo...I highly recommend it!

It's superb for overclocking, given the huge surface area this heatsink offers. Thermalright also makes superb heatsinks, but they typically cost a fair bit more. They usually don't come with a fan either. The Zalman is a complete solution.

Here are some CNPS7000A-Cu reviews.

Frankly, with a mobile 2500+ virtually anything is a good HSF for overclocking. I'm pretty sure that thing will overclock if you use some rusty iron and a hand fan. Seriously, I've got two of them running. One is using the stock cooling of a shuttle SN41G2V2 SFF and the other is using a polished swifty w/ a tornado on a rheostat. Sure, I get about 150MHz more out of the swifty, but even the one in the SFF is pushin 2.4GHz. Both are stable as hell, although I do have to back the one in the SFF off about 100MHz when playing D3. But that doesn't really matter since I only have a 9800XT in that rig. In any event, you WILL get better than a 3000+ speed out of that little guy unless something is seriously wrong, so don't go blowing the value you got by using the chip in the first place on cooling you don't need.
