hi,

i have a cannon eos rebel t2i, i am trying to livestream with it on a friends apple. the only cable he has is a usb. the camera is not showing up in the livestream camera detector.
the camera has a mini hdmi output, the computer we are using for the event is a mac. it has a firewire input on it. i am having a hard time trying to find a cable to connect the camera to the comp. cannon is of no help!
is there a mini hdmi to firewire cable?

It sounds like you need to install Canon's EOS Utility and get that working properly first. From there you use its Live View functionality to bring up the video stream over USB. After that you may have a shot at using the video 'live' - there appears to be a few ways to accomplish it once you have "Live View" pulled up; most seem to be a form of screen ripping from EOS Utility. One I found is here (volume is really low in their video): http://blog.planet5d.com/2010/06/using-a-canon-hdslr-5d-mark-ii-as-a-webcam-for-skype-or-ustream/

See the EOS Utility Manual for Mac (section 3) for use of the software, or start from your camera's page and find another link to it as well as download for the EOS Utility: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/...l_t2i_ef_s_18_55is_ii_kit#BrochuresAndManuals

Goodluck!

What Tim_axe said, you need to properly install the camera in order for it to work. Using it over USB is doable, as I do it on my Windows based laptop all the time. (Granted I don't stream the video feed anywhere, but I use it instead of the view finder/built in LCD all the time, especially when it's a difficult/log angle)
