Need Help with 6950s

I have two 6950s, and one hits 86º with 60% fan speed!

I can't lower the memory clock or core clock in afterburner to cool it down, when I change and apply the settings they stay the same..

The other card has 2 fans and I'd like to use that, but even when I plug the monitors into that card, it uses the other one....


I have tried swapping which slot the GPU is in, reinstalling the OS with GPU in other slot (incl. drivers), plugging monitors into the other GPU, disabling in device manager.. And crossfire is disabled in CCC

And a bunch of other problems, but if I can fix even one of these I can play my game.

Help, please?

Well, it works.. Not sure what all I did, but it started working after disabling/enabled in device manager, enabling/disabling crossfire, and plugging the monitors into the card I do NOT want to operate the game (so in this case, the bottom card.) and making sure the monitor was set as primary.

It even lets me change memory clock, etc now. Not that I need to any more.
 
I'm confused. The problem seems to be the temperature of 86 degrees with 60% fan speed from your original post. Now you say in the second post it works...

What works, have your temps gotten better? How close are the cards to each other?, do you at least have one slot in between them so they have enough time to breath? What 6950s do you have?

What cooler do these cards use? Are they the standard AMD cooler, or non-reference designs? If they're non-reference cards in crossfire, it is normal for the top card to reach 85-90C at a high fan speed.
 
No, I FINALLY made it use the video card that has two fans and runs cooler, to render my game.
