Need help w/ cabling

Ok, here's what I've got to work with:

Where do I start?
The IDE cables are preset, pre-rounded, and pre-covered, so they are set lengths.
The Water tubes are going to be too much of a head-ache at this point to cut, so they are set lengths.
The only things I can change at all are the PSU cables and the other misc. cabling in the system (UV lights, and fans)

Any suggestions on how to clean this mess up?

Or should I just wait and get one of the modular PSU's and start from there?

can you tuck the extra wires behind the mobo tray? If not stick them above the cd rom.Also you could cut the extra wires that youre not using and cap them. and hide those ccfl wires!

Sleeve all your bare wires..makes a world of difference in looks. Drill holes, smooth the holes and and run the CCFL wires to the back side of the case and hide the CCFL box (I'm tired..forget what the damned thing is called) behind the floppy/harddrive racks. Outta sight, outta mind.

Install your harddrive backwards - and drill holes in your drive bays and feed your HD wires trough there.

-Use expantion slots to feed wires in/out
-Dont be afraid to drill holes - just plan ahead
-Sleeve everything
-Connect things (fans - CCFL converters - etc) behind the mobo tray.

BTW: Start by disconnecting EVERYTHING and re-wire it from the start.

I think your the first person to complain a pic is too small and actually request a 1600x1200 image

i like large things, just like most americans. well i just like big images.

Can you run the CCFL cables on the sides of the case
consider gettin a SATA HDD. lol
sometimes flat PATA cables are better then the rounded ones. you can bend them into all sorts of shapes and sizes and tuck them under the mobo.
the wires that you dont use, either hide them behind the mobo tray on the opposite side, i tape mine to the back wall. if you got some cables that you dont use in the front - like headphone jack cable or w.e, either cut it off or hide on the inner wall of your drive cage.

Other than that I've seen people make false bottoms and hide wiring down there. Just be creative, no one can really tell you how to hide your wires, you just have to find the best place to put them yourself. Your best bet is to pull out all the wires you want to hide and do them one at a time.

Not only is it big, its heavy as hell. But I like it, its spacious. With all that room my components stay pretty cool, my case temps rarely go above 33c. Here is the final case though:

I love those older style Q500's. So much room...so much steel....

I've used a dozen or so of those in the past few years....Very nice until you want to go to a LAN party.

Yeah it is and I hate when people do that but it seems like it happens alot here from noobs... .. so your case is to big and stop it and...

Back to the helping the guy that started this tread, you have good looking peice of work but yeah you need to shut the system down and start hiding cables and anything else u can hide away... start with getting as many of them on the back side of the case that are not used, and then go along the side of parts and the case it self to hide them and move the lights out of view, make it so u can only see the light coming from the cathode and not the cathode itself and the rest is for you to do....POST FINISHED PICs, and i can help some more if needed..GOOD LUCK

So I posted some side talk in your thread, big fuckin deal, it happens, get over it. I posted my pics to show how much hiding my cables behind my mobo tray has helped. Someone posted a comment on my case, I replied. Two posts that did not pertain to your thread.

As for cable management:
I don't think the rounded ide/floppy cables or the water tubes are your biggest problem.
Fact is, nobody can look at ONE picture and say "do this and this and your cables will be invisible, and everyone will love you."
The only problem I see, really, is the power for the lights and fans.
You're going to have to tuck cables wherever you can. Personally, I think shortening power supply cables is completely unnecessary.
It would be a good idea, though, to shrinkwrap your lighting and fan wires. It won't get them out of the way, but it will look a lot better.
I kindof like the sort-of organic look that your "loomed" cables and the water tubes give you. If you can just tuck the power wires away behind the drive bays, I think you'll be set.
Perhaps if you remount your CCFLs so that the power leads enter the tubes toward the back of the case, you might be able to hide the power behind the "lip" of the case.

Also, get a new mouse.

lol, this mouse has worked great for years....so i doubt i'll get a new one till it dies.

as for the CCFL wires being hidden...they are totally hidden once the side is put on, since the window covers up most of it.

i tucked most of the cables behind the mobo tray and that worked really well.
