Need help w/ BFG 6800U OC!

I finally got my BFG 6800 Ultra today after about a month on backorder, and i'm running into a problem that has myself and the BFG techs stumped. Sent an email to MSI, suprise they told me to check the power connectors...pheh

Anyway, when the card is in my system system the power button simply fails to function and i can't turn the system on. The LAN lights are on indicating the mobo has power. If i pull out the card, all is well...my Radeon 9500 Pro works great.

Now i take the same GF6800 and put it in my wife's system with a Soyo mobo and athlon 2500+ and the darn thing works like a charm! So now we have a known-good board, and a known-good GPU...

Swapped out my Antec for the ChannelWell 350w hunk of crap that worked just fine in my wife's system and still no good. Put the Antec in my wife's system along with the GF6800, and again it works fine. Ok, so weknow the powersupply is good. Next i swapped my corsair memory for her Crucial....same story, memory is good... disconnected all drives and disabled all onboard peripherals....still no good. Toggled myh AGP voltage between 1.5, 1.6, and 1.7.... no change. Now heres the kicker...after one failed attempt i forgot to flip the switch on my psu off, and i pupped the lock on the geforce. the system fires up and the fan on the vid card starts spinning, while the monitor gives me a flicker....this lasts a whole 2 seconds. so apparently it gets closer to working when it's improperly seated? I fooled around a bit more, and found that by seating the card poorly and disconnecting the power cables...the system would start and the video card itself would give out its "i need juice" squeel....not exactly a good thing, but at least its SOMETHING!

This is really vexing me because all parts appear to be working fine, and i can only figure some weird specific compatability issue between the MSI 865PE Neo2-LS and the nVidia Geforce 6800 Ultra. Anyone have any ideas?

the fans are currently sitting on my desk, lol... right now its set up so that only the card and the mobo have power from the psu (all drives disconnected, case fans removed). I'm at a total loss =\
 
From what you described it could be a bad agp slot in your mobo...have you tried blowing out the slot with compressed air?
 
no, but it works fine if i put my Radeon 9500 Pro back in, and there's no apparent dust in the slot itself....maybe worth a shot tho.
 
I have no issues with mine, just got it today and it runs like a champ on Both systems of mine. My lan rig is a 3200+ with a 400watt Supply and my Main rig is a 64bit and a 660 watt supply.
 
May sound dumb, but do you have the latest motherboard bios...

If not sounds motherboard related to me, I would definetly send something to MSI to ask for a workaround

and yeah, i've tried the newest bios and a couple of slightly older ones as well.... as for msi's support...grrr...amazing to see a company provide so few options for their customers.
