I wasn’t planning to build a new rig but out of luck I was able to snag a 5080 on its own from Newegg: MSI 5080 Inspire
Which now puts me in the position where I’m forcing myself to go to Microcenter/bestbuy/any cheap store to upgrade!
As mentioned, wasn’t anticipating this - but based on my current build (in my signature), I would really be appreciative of the community’s input on upgrading…

I’m primarily a gamer and only use my system for games / daily tasks.

What CPU, mobo, RAM, upgrade should I be considering? I’m very budget conscience and would prefer staying below $600 total if possible.
Is my PSU okay (EVGA 1000W GQ)?

Thanks in advance for all the support and help! Appreciate your time.

Go to micro enter and get a 7600x combo. 32gb of ddr5 6000 CL30 (or cl32), a B650-e motherboard and you’re all set. You will not bottleneck in modern games, and it comes in under or near your budget.

Any preference on brand of mobo?
And is a 7700x better?

The 7700x is not better at gaming. You will be gpu limited before your cpu is a problem even with a 7600x. Do some research you’ll see what I mean. It’s been tested, the 7600 or 7600x is the budget cpu to get if you are running AM5.

Unfortunately Microcenter doesn’t have the ram and mobo combo I’d prefer so I think I’ll have to go for that 7700x bundle I shared. Any red flags on that? Seems like a great deal for $370 right?

No red flags. In fact I bought that same combo a few months ago for a family member. He games 4k without issue.

I also checked Micro Center, and discovered the same thing as the OP. All of the combos with 6-core AMD CPUs that are currently available only come with a single 16 GB stick of RAM. And AMD systems are much more sensitive with memory bandwidth than Intel systems.

If your doing 1440p I was very convinced reading benched that the X3d really pushed it forward.

With physX not being in the 5000 series you could keep your old card in if you play Witcher or any older Phys X games.

Just be aware you'd be doing a whole new win install. Only major difference between win 10 & 11 for a gamer is remote desktop fyi
