i moved into a new place not too long ago and have been in the process of dialing in my new pc area. I finally finished building my desk, which was a complete menagerie as i only had a drill and table saw at my disposal. Anyways here's what im trying to do.
I want to get eyeinfinity across these three screens

I ordered the new monitors, a second 5870 and a q9550 along with cable sleeving and all kinds of stuff for my upgrade, the only thing that hasnt got here are my dvi cables, which I have none of, so im using all sorts of adapters to try to make it work for the time being.
However I cannot seem to do it. I am running (2) 5870s in crossfire and have two displays plugged into my main gpu, both of which are being identified.

The main gpu (on top) has a hdmi to dvi running to one of the monitors that is working. There is also a dvi to vga running to the other working monitor. The second gpu (bottom) has a single dvi to vga running to it which isnt showing up on my pc. Ive tried all different typs of configurations and I can only get 2 monitors to show.
Sorry for the huge file but i wanted you guys to be able to see everything

Please help, Im thinking its something to do with the multiple adapters and I really hope my dvi chords are here soon

NVM, It would seem that no matter how many card you have, if youre running eyeinfinity your ouputs can only be run off the main card, looks like ill be buying a displayport adapter afterall. Thanks ATI... Nvidia is kicking your ass with every step, dickbags

Nvidia forces you to use two video cards, ATI forces you to use a displayport with one of your monitors. Or not... as you can buy AMD video cards that allow Eyefinity without needing an active displayport adapter. Two on DVI and one on HDMI_>DVI and you are good to go. Or you can just buy a display port monitor. They aren't that expensive, and (almost) all the good monitors (IPS) come with display port already.

Personally, I think it sucks that if you have a 480, a card powerful enough to do 3 displays, you still can't do it no matter what you do.

Wrong. Displayport is absolutely required, you can get around that by using an active adapter, or a passive one on occasion. You can not use 2 DVI and 1 HDMI.

All of your monitors must be plugged into the same card. After that just follow along (left to right),

Then just click on the corresponding monitor that lights up blue, ie the left one is blue so click on the left monitor in Catalyst

Yeah im going ahead and buy a display port adapter, luckily I dont need an active one, so its only gonna set me back like $25. and like Icewind said you need displayport no matter what. (1) dvi and the hdmi run on the same connection, so you can only do either or.

THanks icewind, I actually had the idea of running through eyeinfinity figured out, did it with (2) of my monitors just for grins, but that is an awesome guide, someone should sticky it, very straightforward and easy!

Thanks! its really cool for gaming, web browsing sucks ass though. I also orderd the logitech x540 speakers, and they were supposed to come today with my displayport adapter, but it seems UPS lost the box, awesome

I just have my windows sized to the size of one of the screens, and I open separate windows. They aren't maximized.
