I recently purchased a macbook on ebay. The restore discs are not available and was password protected. I bought it because I have had this problem before and figured it will be an easy problem to fix, which will get me the laptop at a decent price.
I try to follow some steps online to create a new admin account. I have used this in the past and it worked flawlessly. This time I try it and my computer wont even boot up anymore. It gets stuck on the gray screen with an apple logo that is loading.
This is what I used:
BUT HERE IS THE BEST WAY AND EASIEST
Creating a new Admin on Mac Os X:
Hereâs how to reset your OS X password without an OS X CD.
the Working solution for me was to create a new admin
you can create new admin like this by deleting a specific file.
You need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
1. Reboot
2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
* mount -uw /
* rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
* shutdown -h now
4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and youâre good to go again!
Can anyone help me out with this, I am completely lost.
