Hello,

I need to reformmat and reinstall windows on a laptop with no CD rom drive. I can't find the external drive that came with it, and the bios/motherboard seems to be too old to detect normal external CD rom drives. This means I cannot boot of a CD in order to reinstall windows. I was thinking about putting the HD into another laptop, installing windows XP onto it, and the resetting the hardware configuration so that windows would rerecognize and reinstall all the devices on the laptop with no CD drive when I put it back in. Does anyone know how to do this? I heard it was possible, but I didnt know how. Otherwise windows XP probably wont work correctly when I put the HD in cause it will have the hardware configuration of the laptop I used to install it with. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!
