Need help reformating SATA drive

Ok, last time around I was able to reformat my ide HD without a problem well now I would like to reformat my Sata drive. Last time I used the program Autoclave, but that is a IDE only based program, so now I would like to know how I could reformat a SATA drive. Plz help, thx
 
Open up My Computer, right click on the drive, select Format.

It may tell you that it can't due to the file system being in use.

If that's the case, click Start, select Run, type "CMD", hit <ENTER>. Once the window opens up, type "format x: /X" (where x: is the drive letter). This dismounts the file system first and allows you to format the drive.

Now, a quick warning on the above: THIS COULD LEAD TO DATA LOSS IF YOU HAVE FILES ON THE DRIVE WHICH ARE STILL OPENED.

Of course, you're formatting the drive, so who cares.. ;)

Oh, and if it's your primary Windows drive, just format it through the XP installation disc.
 
I prefer using Gdisk, but I'm still not sure why people are having problems formatting SATA drives. Must be all the AMD side people who need drivers even when using the drives in non-RAID configs. Every tool I've ever used works with my SATA drives.
