My computer has been running fine but recently it would crash in cs 1.6. No biggy i thought but then one day it just starting bsoding over and over, I couldnt do anything. It said it was the card once or twice i think now that that was for something else. So i took the card to bb to get a refund. So i slide in my old sis 32mb and fire it up. Im still getting those bsods and sometimes i cant even log in before it goes. So i heard to run memtest86. I make a floppy of that and wait for it to boot up. It says verifiying then i see a blueish screen with text on it and IMEDIATly it crashes.

System specs
AMD 64 3200+
asus k8v deluxe
512mb hyperX pc3500
32mb sis card (for now)
160gb maxtor hd (first gave me troubles)
80gb maxtor hd (is the second install i tried)
2 dvd drives ( i dont think they are the root of the problem)
turbo link 420watt 2 fan
 
Probably your RAM..you could try testing 1 stick at a time, try not running in dual channel, or just replacing your RAM altogether with another set of RAM and see where that gets you.
 
ok but would bad ram really crash memtest86 before it can load all the way? i really hope its not my proc or board ram sounds alot better for goin bad.
 
it looked alot to be my ram but i stuck it in my kt266 to run memtest86 on it and it is running fine. The only thing i could think of that would still put the ram on the spot is that its not running at a higher fsb anymore.

(Ok, so that's a little over the top, but you get the idea.)

Your best bet is the process of elimination. Put parts in and take them away and see what's faulty. Maybe the hard drive is screwed over? That sounds reasonable to me.
 
well see it wont run memtest86 on my other pc at all it will get 2 the main screen then crash instantly. This one is done running it... so i couldnt be the hd because its not in use.
 
A possibility is that in that comp, the memory timings are making the RAM unstable, though it's just my guess.
 
ok i just stuck the ram back in my main pc turned it down and its still doing the same thing. since i dont have an extra amd 64 or board that will hold an amd 64 i cant rule those out.
