ok i just recently got an epox 9npa ultra motherboard, a 3200+venice, 7800gt, and a 500W aspire PSU. Yesterday when i put it together and tried to turn it on it wouldnt turn on. On that motherboard theres a manual turn on so i tried that too and it still didnt turn on. I looked at everything and the power and everything was plugged in fine. Today I gave my rig to a friend of mine thats a computer technician and he just booted it with the motherboard with the processor in it. no ram video card hardrive floppy cd drive etc. Just the motherboard with the procesor and the power supply plugged into it and it booted up just fine. The manual turn on worked fine too. I dont know which part could be causing it not to turn on or maybe i did plug something in wrong but my rig is the 4 parts listed above along with 1gig of Samsung RAM, 2 cd drives a floppy drive and a 120 gig ATA hardrive. ill be getting back my computer parts tonight but befor ei put anything back together does anyone have any thoughts as to what could have been causing my computer not to turn on yesterday???
 
I would suggest you firstly, intstall the cpu, connect the psu, install the video card and put 1 stick of ram in. Then proceed to power the machine and go from there. Just start with the bare essentials and work you way up to having everything installed. Hopefully if there is a faulty part you will be able to tell which part it is during the process.
 
well i was thinking about doing that but would a computer boot up without hardrive or disc drives????it just goes to the bios right???
 
Yes, and you can boot to a memtest floppy or cd and test the ram for a couple fo hours before installing your OS :p
