I just built a new system as follows on Friday:

A-Bit IC7-Max2
P4 2.8E o/c 3.1ghz
2 512M Geil 533mhz RAM 2.5-4-4-8
XFX Geforce 6800 w/128M (non ultra or GT)
400W PU
2 120GB Maxtor SATA (RAID-0)

Clean install of Windows XP w/SP1. All MB drivers installed. Nvidia 61.77 Drivers. AA/AF/VSync are OFF and in High Performance mode.

Ran 3DMarks2k3 and scored 5133

Here is my compare link:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2911526

Ran 3DMars2k1 SE and scored 14,xxx

Here is my compare link
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8032759

I did compares on the same video card in the search on 3DMarks and on this forum and many other forums. Also read a review of this same card (128M version) and they all score in 3DMarks in the 9K range.

I am totally puzzled and annoyed and frustrated. Anyone have some lite on this? Would I be wasting my tiem to buy a eVGA card or something else? I don't think the Video Card is bad.

Update:

I ran PCMarks04 and scored 52xx ! 50% less then then someone I searched with the same system!

Can no one help? figured this would be a godo place to ask about all these, guess not.

Do you have Doom 3 or any other intensive game? Fire it up and see how she runs...

The reason I say this is because I have a very similar setup to yours:
Abit IS7
P4 2.8c@ 3.1
1gb Corsair pc3200
eVGA 6800 GT

with the 61.77's my 3Dmark03 was slightly over 10k...I installed the 65.62 betas and my score tanked into the 8k's... HOWEVER Doom 3 runs faster and smoother than before and also the slight "hiccup" I had with NFS:Underground is gone now. Just more proof that synthetic benchmarks aren't worth worrying about. ;)

I'd use the SiS Sandra benchmarks to individually check your CPU and RAM scores just to be certain everything there is okay. If those are normal, then focus on the video card itself. You should definately be seeing something in the 10k range for 3dmark03 with your system. Did you overclock the 6800 at all? I got a huge performance drop when I nudged the GPU clock a wee bit too far.

No overclocking.

I tried Sis Sandra and when I click refresh to test the CPU/Mem it seems to be frozen? 2004.9.9.133 version. But from above on PCMark my score if very low vs otehr systems.

I just ran 3DMark01 to compare and I am crushing some of your results.

Did you try what I mentioned to you in that PM?
*EDIT*
Look at your driver version in your dxdiag. They aren't all the same, which leads me to believe that you have a problem. Look at the last 4 digits of the driver number.

Oh my. So the benchmark never finishes? Does it crash or do you have to kill it with the task manager? The CPU Arithmetic test takes about 20 seconds on my crappy 1.5 system.

Problem Fixed!

I went and redid winXp AGAIN (LOL, like 3rd time) and did all teh drivers careful and and installed Nvidia drivers last.

New Score 93xx in 3DMarks! Woohoo!

Thank God. I was holding off buying the XFX because of you :-P

Dude lol, people have issues with video cards like this ALL the time. :p

That doesn't mean there is something wrong with the card itself. Unless the card is overheating then usually its just a driver or system setup issue.

I'm sure people have had issues with the XFX 6800 GT as well but that didn't keep me from buying one the second they were in stock. :)
