Hello all,

I'm in the process of replacing my PSU and was just wondering if this would be a good choice.

or maybe this one:

My specs are:

CPU: DualCore Intel Pentium D 820, 2800 MHz (14 x 200)
MOBO: Dell DXP051
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800gt (512MB)
RAM: 3gb DDR2 SDRAM
Disk Drive: SAMSUNG HD160JJ/P

Thanks all for any help you can give me, I don't have a lot of experience with hardware and just wanted a few opinions before spending money.

Neither. Go with this significantly better quality PSU:
$45 - Antec NEO ECO 400C 400W PSU

Why only 400 watts?

Forgive my ignorance, like i said i don't know alot about hardware, but i was told i need at least 500W.

Thx

If you're using a PSU calculator to estimate usage, then they overestimate by at least 50 watts.

That Pentium D will probably use at most 100 watts. The graphics card, 100 watts. Everything else, 50 watts. Theoretically, you would be fine with a 300 watt power supply, but there are hardly any good quality ones in the 300 watt range. 400 is where most start at.

Because that's all you need. You don't need a 500W PSU for that setup. You'll be fine with a 400W.
