go for the HIS HD 7970 iceq x2 ghz. but make sure your case can fit the card. its 31.1 cm long. reference HD 7970 PCB with dual 8 pin power connectors. has more power phases than reference HD 7970. allows better stability and lower temps with voltage overclocking . unlocked voltage. good cooler.

stay away from XFX HD 7970. the DD cooler is not as good as his iceq, sapphire dual x, gigabyte windforce3x.

the MSI HD 7970 Lightning is also a good option . one of the best custom designs other than the ASUS HD 7970 MATRIX PLATINUM

^ what this guy said. Don't go for the XFX.

Either custom 7970 or custom 680. Ignoring all the AMD hype, both cards should realistically perform very similar, with the fps edge and perf/$ going to the 7970 but perf/W going to the 680, with a few more small features on the 680 side.

Alright no XFX haha as I read more about it, I found a lot of negative feedback on it. I guess I'm leaning towards msi's gtx 680. I've had amd gpus so this will be my first nvidia card haha
Has amd pushed back their new lineup of gpus till q4?

Unfortunately. I would say to get the MSI Lightning 7970.

We know nothing about new cars, but it looks to be that way.

AMD definitely has price advantage, and the 7970 is a faster card than the 680, by about 5%, 10% at most in certain games. You shouldn't notice it in real use, however, if you really want a nvidia. You do gain PhysX with the 680, better perf/W, and a few other things like better AO implementation.

Either way, I don't think you would notice the difference between the two, just pick the one you like best, as long as you get a better version.

Buy my reference Diamond 7970. It has the GHZ bios and clocks @ 1300/1625 @ 1.185 vC pretty damn impressive.
