A friend of mine's PC is acting up and we have no idea what is going wrong. The problem started out as just restarting after the Windows XP loading screen but then the system wouldn't even start.
After reading some other threads in which people had discovered that some users had experienced this when their PSUs were about to go out. Well, to be sure about it we replaced his 300W Enermax with a 250W Deer Computer Co. citing the fact that he has very few devices and an Athlon XP processor we figured he'd be fine since I'm going strong with a 250W supply on my P4 and 9800 Pro.
Everything did not go well. The replacement PSU blew up (presumably a busted cap), and smoke came out of the back. Now we're wondering, is it some other part of his system that is causing this to happen to his PSUs?
His specs are:
Athlon XP 1600+
Shuttle AK35GT2
Crucial 512 DDR PC2100
Radeon 8500LE
WinXP Pro
Anybody have any idea as to what is going on?
Thanks,
b0b
