I am new to overclocking so could you recommend some good guides to start with that explain things well. What can you expect to overclock my CPU to? Would it be wise to keep this CPU instead of buying a faster one or could I overclock to a higher rated one?

There are plenty of how to guides around you just half to look. Thats a perfect cpu to start with. Its all the other junk - you have to worry about
