Hey there, I would like to overclock my pc, if you can help me in any way that would be awesome, so here's what I have.

Mobo: MSI K7N2G Nforce
CPU: 2400+ AMD @ 2GHZ 133 FSB Thouroughbread
RAM: 2 x 512 333MHZ Dual Channeled
Video: 9500Pro ATI

I think thats all that I need to show, so anyways, could you please email me at cmeglow1@shaw.ca and or post up here what I can do in the bios to get her a little faster cause I don't want to buy a 3000+ Barton which is the max my board can take for now hehe. Oh and the multiplyer is unlocked since its a nforce board.

Interesting..

If you already know that your multiplier is unlocked, that means you know somewhat, what is going on. Seems that you want to be spoon fed, if so, how bout you post your phone number here and have someone call you, instead of someone having to write a whole tutorial and emailing it to you, cause you couldnt look for one yourself.

Google + nforce 2 overclocking = too easy

Kako: just because you are "limp gawd" and they are "n00bie" doesn't entitle you to be a jerk. This is a place of friendly help, or it should be anyway.

WpgViper: I sent you a PM with a link that will help you immensely :)

well, the way I look at this situation, it would've been better if the original poster asked "some specific questions", so we can answer each question. Step by step thanggg... know what I mean.. he acts like he wants tutorial and we do all the work. It would be better if he asks questions and we go from there.

Kako guy:)D) gave reasonable response.. i understand where he's coming from and why he said it although it isn't the best way of approach.. but i don't really blame him too much. hehe..

Asking questions is very important.. asking good questions are even better. Any stupid questions are fine too!!! start off with some questions and it just gets... better.

I agree with meowcat. too many people want others to do everything for them, people should learn to be self reliant on what they can... and ask intellegent specific questions when they can't.

lol 5 replies and nobody says a word to the poster to do something. So I guess I will be the first..

Research FSB overclocking (again.. google is your friend) its better to research than have someone tell you and you mess up your pc and be pissed.

Anyways.. in your bios.. increase your fsb say from 133 to 140 (then save & reboot) and u will have a slight increase. Do this and run a stability test program like Prime95 (again.. google).

Watch your temps as you increase your fsb.. also I would think you are limited to 166mhz depending on your ram. But thats just what would stop you from reaching 'great' ocs.. like 200fsb..

Anyways.. its a try and test method.. try increasing this.. lowering that.. etc.. and test your results for stability. I would say upping the fsb to 140 wouldn't require a test.. something over 20 mhz would. thats just my opinion. Also.. once u find a max fsb that doesn't cause inconsistencys then try lowering the multiplier and trying with the fsb that wouldn't work (so that way u can increase FSB as high as it goes while maintaining an avg overall clock).. The key is HIGH FSB to take advantage of your memory fully (ie the higher the front side bus.. the faster your ram works).

Anyways.. enjoy.. next time like the first reply said.. GOOGLE.. and maybe ask BETTER questions that can be answered.. :p

or u can just not be a prick about it and tell him to look on google

He needs to put in some effort, hours of reading, before he goes and makes the plunge, becuase if he doesnt, and screws up, hes just gonna end up here with a thread "OMG I fuxor my computer" Nothing wrong with learning, thats exactly how we want to help out here, but I dont think he should take a short cut and have someone email him step by step instrucions.

I may have acted like a "prick" and a "jerk" only because I found his requests for instructions to be emailed to him, to be over the top. If he did not put his email address there, I wouldnt have been bothered as much. I will take this thread though into consideration, and provide more productive posts here, without the humor/amusement/flame

Here is a MSI specific forum at www.amdmb.com. The sticky at the top for nforce 2 boards should give you plenty of reading up on these boards.

I know this thread has been kinda dead.

I have the same motherboard.
So here is the specs.

MSI K7N2G-L motherboard (with 8x AGP)
Athlon XP 2000+ Palomino (Default 12.5 multiplier, 133 MHz FSB, Vcore 1.75V)
1 Gig DDR 333 memory
Radeon 9600XT
Windows 2000

I read some of the online tutorials about OC'ing.

I have a few questions. Just wondering if anyone has come across

1. I leave everything at default, and try to bump up my Vcore voltage from 1.75 to 1.8V. And the system doesn't boot up at all. Does this mean the mobo can't take it? I have a huge copper heatsink, I think it should be enough. The system is fine at 1.775V though.

2. Since I have DDR 333, this means DRAM clock rate max at 166 MHz. So, I leave everything at default again, then adjust the FSB/DRAM ratio to some odd DRAM clock rate (other than 100/133/166 MHz), but still between 100 and 166Mhz. The system boots but got the blue screen going to Windows OR I got the beeping sound. Is there a reason why the DRAM only works at those specific frequency?

Thanks.
