Sup guys, I have never overclocked before and I need some directions to safely point me to the right direction. I dont wanna go crazy, just a few hundred mhz to get me going. My goal is 3.2GHZ. So if anyone have these combination of hardware, Id really appreciate it.

Hardware:

Intel E6600 (batch L640) 1066 with Zalman 9700

EVGA 680i SLI 775 A1

2GB Mushkin DDR2 1066 (part # 996535)
Cas Latency 5
Timing 5-5-4-12
Voltage 2.2-2.35V

Corsair 620HX Power Supply

1 x EVGA 8800GTX

Windows Vista 32bit

Please instruct me step by step.

How does this look for safe starters? Everything look Correct? Im using Mushkin PC2-8500 Ram and I have it set to 700mhz in BIOS. Should I go all the way up to 1066mhz?

my E6600 is also from L640. and mine does 3.24GHz (FSB=360) with out any voltage increase. my motherboard is gigabyte 965p dq6. i am using some cheap ddr2 6400 ram and they are currently running at 720mhz. i am running this setup for the last six months and it has passed 9hrs orthos.

Could u set the ram any higher?

damn pc is unstable at 3.4ghz. Could it be my ram? I have it set to stock settings.

What voltage are you running on the MB? I'm guessing it's not the RAM.

I've got an e6600 running on an evga 680i MB and can run 3.4 stable, but i have to run it at just over 1.5V due to the vdroop to keep that orthos stable (which i could get it to go to 3.5 or 3.6 stable, but such was not my luck with this particular proc).

temps btw are no problem since i'm in an antec 900 case running an enzotech ultra-x cooler

i'm betting you can get 3.4 stable if you keep playing with it

oh! sorry my processors batch is L641F002. i set my system memory multiplier to 2 so they would run 1:1 with the FSB. i can run my ram on 800mhz like, i set FSB to 400 and set cpu multiplier to 8 and can run my processor at 3.2ghz. that is with out any voltage increase. actually today i've been playing with my bios to find the limit of my system. my ram's settings r 5-5-5-18 :(

here are my findings, with these settings i was can get into windows and can run small benchmarks like .. Nuclear multicore or superpie.

3.36 GHz (375*9) @ 1.34375v
3.42 GHz (380*9) @ 1.3750v
3.45 Ghz (385*9) @ 1.38125v
3.51 GHz (390*9) @ 1.40v
3.54 GHz (395*9) @ 1.425v
3.60 GHz (400*9) @ 1.45625v, + 0.1v to the MCH and +0.1v to FSB over voltage control

Please note that i haven't tried to run orthos on these settings as i am on intel stock HSFand even on 1.37v after minutes of orthos my temp reached 60c. so i've to stop the test.
