This is a very strange issue that I am not sure what is causing it:
I bought a HP 19" P910, part no. D8910 monitor in July 2004. The monitor spec. PDF files on the web shows the max. resolution is 1920x1440, with the next one down being 1792x1344.
I use my MX440 Nvidia w/ 64 MB of RAM, and I only get 1600x1200 on Win 98 SE.
I switched to a Quadro 2 for 2 days running Win 2000, and I get a resolution of 1920x1440. They even show the video card can do 2048x1536 but I never try it.
I have some incompatiability wtih win 2000 unrelated to the above, so I got rid of that Quadro 2 and win 2000, move back to Win 98 SE.
Now I upgraded to FX 5200 w/ 128 MB of RAM, and I still stuck at 1600x1200.
I try power strip a moment ago, same thing, still max. out at 1600x1200.
The thing is, when I read the INF file, it says:
[D8910.AddReg]
HKR,"MODES\1600,1200",Mode1,,"29.0-107.0,50.0-150.0,+,+"
HKR,,MaxResolution,,"1600,1200"
HKR,,DPMS,,1
If so, then:
1) why would my Quadro 2 be able to do 1920x1440 on the monitor? I even screen capture a JPG at 1900 x 1440 to prove it.
2) HP's own spec. also said 1920x1440, but now I just read the manual, it really max. out at 1600x1200 @ 85Hz. So does that mean I can't get 1920x1440, if not, how did the Quadro 2 do it?
Clearly, the max. resolution of the video card, FX 5200, which so-happened to be 2048x1536 is limited by the above, max. out the display properties at 1600x1200.
I try Power Strip at 1800x1440, as I don't want to damage the monitor, I suppose I can try 1920x1440.
Any idea how to get 1920x1440 on this monitor?
