need help on choosing power supply

i am looking for a new power supply for the system in my sig. the one i have right now is a cheap one that came with the case. its really loud and hot. does anyone know any power supplies that aren't very loud and run cool for under $40? Thanks

would be the process Id recommend, and Id be happy to help,
provided I dont need to do all the legwork for you

dont buy a PSU based on budget,
buy a PSU that will do the job you require
a budget target is a consideration but
make decisions based on a knowledge of the tradeoffs involved
no other component has the same potential for distaster as does your PSU
