Hello.

I need a sata controller, I am about to fill about my two 1tb's and I am wanting to build a tower.... For about 8 hard drives.

But I do not want a motherboard in it... Just a controller card, psu, fans, and hard drives.

I want the interface to be usb.. esata... etc like a normal external hard drive.

So what I am saying is, where can I find something like this? My enclosure has one in it, but for only two hard drives. I need 8.

Thanks.

Tyler

Kinda but, no.

I want to be able to hook it straight up to a computer with no problems.

Like easta would be great, a little faster than my usual usb.

What controller do you have?

You could use a multi-lane SATA cable, which basically consolidates 4x SATA cables into one, for external hookup. You can buy bridges for the internal of your cases. Google for "Multilane SATA" and you should see what I'm talking about.

Damn I like that.

But only one downside... My computer would be the only one able to use the hard drives. Unless I bought another pci bracket... but then won't be able to hook it up to a laptop.

I may go with a 4 bay...

But one more question. Will a Nas hook right up to the computer, or do I have to go through a router.
