OK so i got it to boot the CD but i cant get it to go back & boot the HD any ideas. here is the config.sys on the floppy

[menu]
menuitem=HD, Boot to Hard Drive.
menuitem=CD, Boot to CD.
menudefault=HD,30
menucolor=7,0

[HD]
device=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS

[cd]

I don't know how to do this via win 98 I know the boot manager of NT will do this, I can look into it but if I can't find an original 98 cd (I sure I can around here at work) I don't know

In the mean time look into multi boot espeicially the linux method it should be too hard to pick and it will work for your situation I believe.
