need help installing winxp

What in particular do you need help with? For the most part, you boot from the CD and follow the instructions.

I want to install it on my f:/ drive. I have files on there that i need.it gives me the option to partition or something like that. Installing that would leave my files alone?

These are my options
Format the partion using NTFS file system (Quick)
Format the partion using NTFS file system
Leave the current file system intact<no changes>

which one do i choose?

Leave the file system intact if you want to access the files that are currently on there.

FORMATTING WILL DELETE EVERYTHING

leave the file system intact.. basically it means that at sometime in the past you formatted the drive..

why F and why not just move everything off

I have a c drive that i Use right now with a copy of xp home installed on it and i want to move it back to my old emachine. The f: drive is 200 gb's and when I bought I formated it awhile ago and put it into my machine . After this installation is done then I should be able to put the 40 giger back in the emachine and use my f:/ drive as my primaryone.
