Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me install my usb 2.0 controller that I just bought.

If I install it on a motherboard with a ali chipset, the controller works fine. But when I try to install it on my nforce chipset motherboard, windows xp won't be able to find the drivers for it.

I have already downloaded the winxp usb 2.0 update and installed and downloaded the newest ali usb 2.0 drivers yet it is still unable to find the proper drivers. All I get is "PCI Device" listed in device manager.

If I force install drivers for it, it would appear fine in device manager, I mean no exclamation marks beside it, but it won't detect and device I plugged into it.

I tried I fresh install of winxp and it didn't help.

Any ideas?

Thanks

What brand controller card is it? And does the manufacturer offer any sort of drivers, or support info on your problem? They would be the first place I would check.

i have been looking for the xp drivers for my card for a while now. it's a no name brand 4 usb2.0's and 2 firewire's... one of the usb drops died on me last week. i'm just going to replace teh card when the time comes around. it was $15 at Frys when i bought it 6 months ago. ALi's website does not offer much help.

The controller card is some no-brand card. It was made in China.
THe card did come with a CD that had drivers, but like I said, when WinXP prompts me for the drivers, and I point it to the drivers on the CD, it doesn't recognize it as valid drivers. The only instruction that came with it was install the card and install the drivers. I tried googling for help but it I still couldn't get it to work.

After forcing drivers to install, even though WinXP warned me it might not be compatible, everything looks fine. There are not "!" exclamation symbol icon beside the device in device manager.
