Need help getting back into monitors

So' ive been on 1080p for the longest time and since then alot of things have changed. I never really followed the tech for monitors.

Since 4k has come out there are all these new terms that have cropped up that i have no clue about. (4:4:4, uniformity, IPS, VA, etc)

or we have any really good threads or can you guys point me in the right direction that has really good in-depth information on all the new terminology and pro and cons of the different panel types?
