Ok, so I have a 850w Corsair PSU and Im building a new computer. Here are my new components:

Mobo: ASRock Z77 Extreme6 LGA 1155 Intel Z77
CPU:Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W
CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2, CPU Cooler
Ram: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133
GPU: TWO ASUS GTX680-DC2-4GD5 GeForce GTX 680 4GB
Storage: Western Digital Black 640g Hard Drive
(Possibly getting a 1T HD and a SSD later down the line to replace my 640g)

Do you think I should be ok with that PSU if Im not overclocking anything?

Overclock to the max and you're still way under 850 watts.

Even with two 680s? There are people with 1000w PSUs, whats the purpose of those then?

No, because they're misinformed.

1000 watts is for tri-SLI. 1200 is for quad-SLI. 1600 is for quad-SLI with hex-core i7s overclocked to the max on watercooling.
