Hey guys, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a water cooling setup for my new i7. Specs are in my sig. I've been doing some looking and this is what I am close to buying.

This will be an external setup. I plan to use a separate and exactly duplicate (although with the proper blocks) setup for my tri-sli in the near future with the danger den gtx280 blocks. So its essential for me that I get this right as it will be the model for another loop.

For now though I'm just looking at the cpu setup. My understanding is a 480 rad should be more than enough, but if not I have plenty of room for a second 480 and any other rad that I might need.

Overkill and the best of the best is the aim with this setup. I'm willing to pay what is necessary to do it right and well.

I was wondering if you guys can help point out any flaws or anything I missed, give opinions or flame me. Thanks in advance.

That is one hell of a build. Expensive as hell too ^^ Hope you enjoy it!

What case? Do you plan to run multiple loops? Alot of people over at XS prefer the MCP355 with a custom top over the MCP655 when you have a restrictive loop. It would also remove the need for the koolance res if you got the XPSC res top for the MCP355.
 
Christ, OP: You could cool 2x 4870X2 GPU's on that radiator... You have one hell of a lot of headroom if you're simply cooling your CPU... You might even be able to run the rad with fans at around 3.4v

The Feser would have problems with 2x 4870x2 and a i7 though. Alot of people at XS have huge issues running their i7 and like tri-sli setups on one quad rad.

Well, yeah... Of course, but the OP never said anything about cooling GPU's.

It's simple math, the 480 can dump 500w of heat with 4 1200rpm yates.

Ah I confused his stuff about the Tri-SLI. I'd assume he's making it external as well with it's own Feser 480 xD

Yes this loop will cool the i7.

A second identical and seperate one will cool the tri-sli setup. Do you think a single 480 can handle tri-sli?

The case is a coolermaster haf 932

See that psu plate up near the top with the two grommets for water cooling tubes? I'm gonna modify that for an additional 2 holes to run 2 sets of tubes out, send and returns for each loop.

Been using the 480 Xchanger for a while now, cooling a quad and a 4870x2. Excellent temps BTW. 21-26c idle and 31-35c in Crysis after 3 hours on the x2
 
Yeah gonna drop the shrouds and go with fans in push/pull instead.

Am I going to run into issues with mixed metals on this build and need some kind of water additive?
 
Well guys thanks for the help, made a few small changes and placed the order. Hopefully will post up pics when its done.
 
I just finished my i7 wc setup the other day, I have cpu and 260's in sli in a single loop on a mcr320 rad, so far no problems with heat. Was concerned it was to much for a single loop on that rad but after running prime95 all night and rthdribl_1_2 I was still fine even at 3.8ghz on cpu and oc on each 260.
