I need a rackmount PC case that will fit in ATA style rack cases for audio gear. Anyone know where I can find one? I have found a few "short depth" rackmount cases but they were fairly pricey or on wholesaler sites. I need it to be 3u or 4u.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, racks for audio equipment are identical to computer racks. The depth is an issue, however--most audio equipment isn't nearly as deep as rackmount server chassis. Do you have a price range?

A few weeks back, I was looking for rackmount cases that supported uATX (but not full ATX) motherboards. There aren't many of them out there, but I did find one. Unfortunately, it's expensive, as you found.

the reason i need a short depth rackmount is that I need a mobile solution that is more powerful than a laptop, that i can still take on planes with me. if i can;t close it, they won't let it on as luggage, as per ata rules and i'm guessing insurance reasons. the rack i am hoping to use can accomodate 17" from front rail to rear rail and 19" front rail to rear cover...so i'd guess my max depth is 18.5"

There are a few 2U cases on newegg that might fit in those dimensions.

unfortunately the sound card I will be using precludes the use of 2U unless it will accept standard height PCI cards.
Many 2U cases come with riser cards so the sound card would be parallel to the motherboard. If a 4U case would fit, this one seems to be shallow enough.

wow, that's pretty much perfect for my use!

thanks a million!

i had been going through every rackmount on the egg and somehow missed that one no less

My audio rack is 18inches deep. So I have to look for cases that are under 18 inches
chking ebay for short depth 4u rackmount should pull up some options too. or other prices for that norco 4u rack.
