What is a solid PSU that will run that with no problem.

Machine Specs:

Dell Inspiron D530
Intel Board
Intel Quad Core 6600 @ 3.0ghz
250GB 7200RPM SATAII
DVD Burner SATA
8800GTX 768MB

The issue is... I bought a replacement for the stock PSU, an Ultra X2 750W. It shows the 12v Rails @ 25A

But everytime i load the nvidia drivers the machine crashes; everything is leading toward the PSU.

Im looking for some experience from you guys, whats a good PSU for a single card (8800GTX) - will need the 2x PCI-e rail connectors ; a PSU that actually works under a load! any help would be great. (Btw, if i could spend right around 100 bucks that would be great)

You might have just gotten a bunk psu. have you tried rma'ing that ultra one you have?

PCP&C Silence 750w Quad is a great choice. 5 year warranty, quality company, and a single 60A rail. That's around $170 from Newegg. You could also try their S610EPS, which is a lesser wattage variety of the first one. It's $120 with free shipping. Ultra is a quality company also, so I would suggest RMAing that one and seeing what you get the 2nd time around. Things happen during the exit from QA to the entrance to your home.

Another vote for the Corsair.. Not that the CM is bad by any means, just that Corsair has proven themselves time and time again in the PSU game in such a short time..

Their warranty is top notch, no idea what CM's warranty period is like (or god forbid you need it, how easy their RMAs are). Also, they support their customers really well.

Also, isn't that Ultra the OP noted the one that flunked *[H]ard* in a review here? Or is/was there a non-"Exteme" version, as opposed to the "Extreme" that did so poorly?

Note: Corsair's reps did exchanges here for p/o'd people who had some issue w/ RAM modules some time ago, they provide extra cable adapters (for those w/ HX series PSUs) when asked, ie: 8pin PCIe for those who have older rev's that didn't come w/ them. And lastly, a couple weeks ago, Corsair's rep here did something WAY cool - agreed to allow an RMA (if ever needed), even though the particular poster OPENED his PSU, and VOIDED the warranty (technically), due to a screw falling in the unit, or something along those lines - damn fine of him to do that if I must say so.

ps

buy.com has the Corsair 550VX for $85, $65 AR (pdf; expires 3/31), $55 w/ Google Checkout. Or in other words, not accounting for the MIR if you want ot look @ it that way, $75 shipped w/ GCO - $25 less than the Egg. $97, $73, $63 shipped @ buy.com for the 650TX; $150, $115, $105 for the 750TX; $100, $90, $80 for the 520HX; and finally $140, $115, $105 for the 620HX. And the HX series being the modular ones of course, if you didn't know that already.

I don't understand why your PSU is the problem in the first place unless it's broke.

Try another psu, borrow a buddies or somthing.. i have a enermax galaxy 850 and its amazing.. no problems ever..

I figured it out!!! THE PSU was fine.

The issue was with the monitor i was plugging into. I normally use a 30" Olivia LCD; for some reason the monitor was causing the computer to bluescreen on startup; once i changed to a standard 24" dell monitor that the PC came with it booted fine.

I do know that you have to be carefull with Power Distribution, have you double checked which Rail your Powering your GTX with?

No, you shouldn't. PCIe connectors are generally on the same rail or their own rail. It's when you use Molex to PCIe adapters you start screwing things up.

Antec NeoHE 550

Guys... he found the problem to be with the monitor.
