im building this rig based on gaming and sound...

any recommendations on what kinda sound card to get?

i want to take full advantage of my 7.1 surround sound system

might i remind you, that i am an unemployed high school student... :D

my range is prolly up to $80 dollars, give or take

I would try and afford the $120 X-Fi xtrememusic soundcard from Creative Labs.
 
XFi for sure, but if you want to use an optical or coax connection, you will need to spend an additional $70 and get the platinum edition.
