Need help deciding on LCD monitors

I am going to buy two 24" monitors soon and I have nailed it to few but I'm having a hard time deciding which ones to get.

I would be using them mainly for programming and movie watching (I love HD content), I'm not a big gamer and only play games for few days every year.

I can get all those monitors for, so it's not the price I'm worried about but the quality.

Dell S2409W

The Dell 2407WFP obviously was/is really good priced at 1000$ When it came out, comparing the Dell S2409W price at 350$ when that came out... And the NEC at around 450$
But that was back in 2007 so I am wondering if the cheap new LCD's can match or even beat the quality of the old Dell?

The 2407 Dell will give you a better viewing angle and better color representation as it has a PVA panel. This is a big plus if you are watching your movies from a location other than your desk chair (like a bed, bean bag, or recliner close by) where your viewing angle will be less optimal.

With that said the other two monitors will offer less input lag, but worse color/angles. While they have similar response times that Dell is known to have some input lag associated with it. This is only a real problem with gaming as you can notice slight ghosting and it may feel slightly laggy (you move your mouse and your cursor lags behind).

From my personal experience I have programmed, watched Hulu, and played some Starcraft on the 2407 and the experience has been great. The construction quality is suburb.

If it were me, I would compare the price between each and then decide how much color/angle matters to you. The Dell and NEC TN panels you listed are most likely cheaper. The 2409 is most likely cheaper than the NEC and will work fine with movies, but the NEC offers a small amount more real estate as it is 16:10.

Also you should make sure you have the inputs you wish to use as each offers a variety of different inputs (2407 lacks HDMI).

the price difference isn't that much so I'm going with two 2407...
The only thing I was a bit worried about was if the new monitors had gotten better but it seems that the TN technology is pretty much the same as it is so I guess the 2407 is still the king....
 
BTW form where u get 2407WFP. Its not available at DELL afaik. they have only 2408WFP and with the coupon $395 + tax
 
Actually I just bought one from ebay... And going to buy another... They are going for 200-300$

The S2409 is going for 199$ w/shipping from dell refurbished and the NEC one is going for 179$ on ebay
