Need help dealing with lightning strike.

A few days ago lighting stuck near the house and ever since then I've been unable to get video from my pc. It know it boots up because I can hear the Windows login chime and a subsequent boop that happens when the pc needs administrator's permission for something, but I am unable to see anything. My tv just continues to say "No Signal". I've tested the tv out with a game console and it shows just fine (on rf, not HDMI the pc's using). Please ask any questions about the pc and I will try to answer them later this evening.

on-board or ad in video card? do you have a 2nd hdmi cable to test? can you test pc on another monitor or tv?

I have another hdmi cable to test, but only the one tv to test it on because the other tv got hit, also. I don't understand the first part, I'm new to dealing with hardware and this pc was my first build.
 
Ok, what's the specs of your PC?

Also, please hit the stickied "Basic Troubleshooting Guide" and follow the steps on what to do when the PC does not POST.
 
It looks like you answered the question about the components in your build.

I'd remove that video card and plug your HDMI connection into the motherboard's on board video and try again. If that works and you get video, it's likely the video card which you can verify by re-installing it and trying again.

Yep, just borrowed a friend's monitor and tried this and it's definitely the graphics card. Thanks for all the help, everyone!
 
I know it's a little too late for this, but in order to prevent this mishap in the future, plug your devices into surge protectors, and not directly into the wall. That way your electronics will not be fried by a lightning strike again. Next time, something more expensive might get damaged!
 
It's possible that the surge traveled through the HDMI from the TV to the graphics card. I would say it is more likely that is what happened than anything.

Ah, didn't know that. But I plug my TV into a surge protector for the same reason anyway. Most of my electronics are, just in case.
