Hello all

I'm looking to buy a monitor in the 19-21+ inch range.
Things I want:
No Backlight Bleeding
No Dead Pixels
Respectable Response Time for Gaming.

I'm not asking to much am I? :p
Let me reflect

I recently purchased the Dell 2005FPW. Great monitor besides the backlight problem. I couldn't deal with it after trying for weeks. Just to picky. But I do know I will not be staring at this ugly CRT anymore. After using an LCD for several weeks theres no way I'm going back.(I'm not a CRT hater)

As far as the response time, the 2005FPW was acceptable for gaming. It did take a few days of getting used to, coming from the CRT but I couldn't tell after a week.

And lastly, a company with a zero pixel policy, or someone like dell with the 21 day satisfaction thing. (Dell, Viewsonic, Samsung?)

Monitors I am considering in no particular order:
ViewSonic VP191B
ViewSonic VX924
Viewsonic VP201B 20.1-inch ($537.96 After Coupons From Dell)
Samsung 213T (539.99 after $100 MIR) - I wasn't sure if this was fast enough for me, Anyone?
And lastly if someone wants to sell me a 2405FPW for around $600-650USD :D

Any suggestions? I know there are some other very picky people out there, who is picky, and happy with what they settled for?

Thanks!

Thaz

My brother has the Hyundai.
I have to admit it is really nice.
The black is very even over the whole thing, but isn't the new Viewsonic 4ms a better choice?
or not worth the extra $100?

There was a thread floating around about how that Viewsonic monitor is not all its cracked up to be, mostly adverstising hype. LD90+ is still probably the king of the hill.

You'll need at least 7-8 dead pixels to return a Viewsonic LCD. I got lucky on my VP191b 8ms and have 0 dead pixels.

My LD90+ is great, at first i found it bright now now i got it just how i like it, good for games and i dont have any problems with movies either. I dont notice the dithering at all but im not a graphic artist or anything.

hey thuz I'm interested in the 2405FPW. could you elaborate a little on the backlight problem?

From what I've read here the 2405's backlight problem is not as serious as 2005's backlight problem.

As far as i've read, there isnt a backlight issue with the 2405FPW
But here are pics of my 2005FPW's that went back to Dell.

- First one I received was the one on the right, Replacement was the one on the left

That is both monitors displaying a Blank screensaver.. Black

Boy if that picture doesn't look familiar. Both my 2005's were picked up by UPS today. Bought one, had a replacement sent, both of them looked like the above picture. Now they are on the way back home.

Just waiting for a deal on the 2405 now.

Ouch, those 2005's look terrible. I got lucky with mine... no dead pixels (that I've noticed) and the backlighting can only be seen in one corner and its very slight.

Hmm, I coulda swore I read somewhere that Viewsonic had a 0 dead pizel policy.. so its only samsung?

Let us know what you end up with Thazul. And post a little review or something. :D

IMO your choice should be between the 191 and 924, 191 is very fast but looks a little dated, the 924 might have slower reponse time in some cases but should be handle most gaming with no problems.

My gripe about LCDs now is the fact that you can't use anything other than native rez if you want decent IQ, and games are only going to get more complicated. With the 2405 I ordered I'll probably have to play at the lowest setting in games soon, making me have second thoughts now.

I could have sworn the Samsung Zero Dead Pixel Policy was in only in Korea..

I got this one

Viewsonic VP201B 20.1-inch ($537.96 After Coupons From Dell)

But I'm beginng to think that the 19 inch LCD's right now are the best all around deals. I don't see any screendoor effect or light bleeding or even dead pixels in my panel but when Dell has its 19 inch 1905's on sale you can almost buy 2 for the price of the 20.1 inch models.

On the ViewSonic VP191B Dell's 19 inch 1905 is using or going to use the same panel that ViewSonic has.

I think all your choices you will be happy with.
