Need Help Choosing Speakers

Hey there.. I have an X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card and I'm looking to buy logitech speakers.

However, one thing I'm very nervous about is the magnetic field, or magnets contained in speakers and the subwoofer.

Can an LCD monitor be damaged by the magnets or magnetic field? I'm guessing the effects on the computer wouldn't be very good (hard drives being wiped, etc).

I basically need help choosing logitech speakers, I would greatly appreciate it. I would like suggestions for both 2 speakers and 5 speakers.

Thanks,

Syphina

Most if not all computer speakers are magnetically shielded, so you could put them right up to your LCD or CRT and nothing would happen to them. In fact, im doing that right now with my 2407WFP 24" widescreen LCD and my Logitech Z-5500 satellites.

Since you are inquiring about Logitech speakers, their Z-5500 speakers are their current high end 5.1 package. You get the five satellites, the sub, and an external box that acts as a mini-receiver to decode your TOSlink optical or digital coax connections into Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1 surround. It also has the connections to run your regular mini-plug connections from standard sound cards (probably what you're using now).

I have them, and they are great. Just make sure you get some decent 18 or 16 gague speaker wire to replace the shitty stuff they give you and you're set. The digital cables aren't really needed unless you'd like to hook up your DVD player or Xbox 360/PS3 to them (which I do...optical for my 360, and coax from my X-Fi Platinum external drive).

Great setup, you wouldn't be disappointed.
