Need help choosing fans

IMHO, Apevia's synonymous with crap. Every case or fan of theirs I've used looked and felt very cheap, and their fans' noise/CFM ratios weren't very good either.

I'd instead opt for the Antec TriCool 120mm green LED model: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835209012

They have a 3 speed RPM switch - switch it on to medium or high and they'll undervolt well via your fan controller.

Well, I'm going to have my system full (7) but anything over 4 or 5 would be good. with the controller is it possible to turn of the LED's ?

I don't think so. There are very few fan controllers without LEDs ... though you could buy a couple Sunbeam Rheobus units. They control 4 fans each ... and their LEDs can be easily removed (and can be reinstalled, as well). Other models' LEDs seem to be more on the permanent side.

The only fan controllers I can find support six fans ... though I suppose you COULD use a splitter and ran two fans off the same channel. Not unheard of.

Oops, I meant the LED's on the fans, not the controller.

Also, I most likely will be splitting the side fans (4) together on the same channel, so I guess a 4 channel controller would be good.

OH ... hm, well, as you decrease the voltage on the fans via fan controller, so too will the LEDs dim. I THINK there are fans where you can turn off the LEDs ... BlueGears makes them? Dunno for certain.

Yeah, noctua looks good, but theyre expensive and I want LED's.

And thanks for all the help JaYp146. can you suggest any other fan controllers?

No problem. Here's a list: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...BESTMATCH&Description=fan+controllers&x=0&y=0

Any of the Zalman controllers listed are great solutions. Be warmed, though, as the ZM-MFC1's blue LEDs are insanely bright.

Any of the Sunbeam controllers listed are good.

Same goes for the Scythe units. Plus, have LED screens; some show RPM or temperature, which is pretty cool.

NZXT's controllers are all image, but short on simple functionality. For example, you won't find any NZXT models with control nobs.

Alright, I went through the names you listed and I've decided to go with this
Scythe KM02-SL 5.25" Bay Fan Controller - Retail - $39.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811998056

Going to assume it will work perfectly with the tricool's right ?

Thanks alot for all your help!

Buy the noctuas and buy some spare leds :D . Quiet gaming > lights ;)

yeah they sound like some great fans to get, but getting 7 of them would be too expensive. and when gaming ill probably block out fan sound with game sound.

Yep, it'll work just fine with the TriCools. Solid choice on the fan controller, too.

Noctuas are horribly overpriced / over hyped, IMHO. You aren't missing much by not buying them. ;)
