Theres two laptops im particularly interested in and thats the Toshiba and the HP from Best Buy.

Which laptop would have better performance for gaming? The Toshiba has a Dual Core AMD TL-60 with ATI x1250 graphics and the HP has Intel Dual Core (not core duo) and Intel GMA 4500m

Listen i know those machines arent meant for gaming, but its all i can afford, and im looking to play mainly L4D and COD4, and maybe WAW (they run on the same engine correct?) And quite possibly GTA4 but....which one of these systems come close?

Thanks for all your help, Eragon

I currenty use a laptop from BF two years ago, the $250 secret sale laptop from BB, with 1.6ghz celeron, x200, 2gb of ram. its a toshiba and ive used it to play just about every valve game, it can sorta play L4D but it gets laggy at time, can barely play COD4 at like 5-6fps. and these laptops will definitely be an upgrade to what i have now.

neither

neither will work for gaming unless you play 5 year old games exclusively. also, neither are very good laptops for the price. the TL-60 is 1+ years old and was put in laptops 1+ years ago for about the same price. the Pentium Dual-core isnt that great either.

for $650 and $800 i'd expect an older Core 2 Duo and newer C2D respectively. Intel OWNS CPU laptop performance and older C2D/Centrino Duos are much better than 'new' AMD X2/TL's and are usually the same price.

for $800+ i'd expect a Centrino Duo T7200 and 3GB RAM.

you cant really buy a "gaming" laptop for under $1000 normal price and they get substantially better at $1200-1400 with much better GFX cards. neither the Intel GMA nor the Radeon x1250 are gaming cards and the Radeon here is actually a 3 years old low-end card.

I understand that, but thats all i can afford right now. I even stated that in my OP. Im just asking which has better performance.

This guy on NBR has almost the same specs and hes running CRYSIS! Is that real?

HP Compaq 6715b

AMD Turion TL-56 X2 1.8 ghz @ 2.5 ghz.
2 X 1 GB PC2-6400 800 mhz CL5 @ 1333 mhz
ATI X1250 128 MB Shared memory
Seagate 120 GB Sata hdd 8 MB Cache.

Half life 2 episode 2 with everything high 20 - 30 FPS
Crysis everything high, Model detail + shadow + shaders low 13 - 20 FPS
