Need Help Choosing a 19in Flat CRT

I'm shopping for a CRT replacement for my old trusty IBM 17v.

I want a 19in, Flat Tube, black cased CRT.
I've looked at Viewsonic, NEC, and Samsung units and reviews on them can go each way. Can someone help me out?

Thanks [H].

I am also going to be upgrading my monitor soon(go tax return!) and am looking for something under $250 bucks for a 19in flat CRT. Any recommendations?

Good one… I mean have you used one of these things? 1600x1200 is totally unusable, and it is one of the least sharp monitors I have seen. Try looking at a monitor that isn't junk. If you like the Viewsonics the P95f isn't a bad monitor at all. High resolution with high refresh rates, plus it can be found for under $250US online. Personally I would choose the NEC FP912SB or Mitsubishi 930 as they are probably the best 19" aperature grill monitors out there.

If you can spare the cash, the NEC Multisync FP912SB or the Mitsubishi DP930 are the best 19 inchers out there.

The Viewsonic P95F+ might be good if you don't use high res; there's some horrible focus problems on some of the tubes.

The NEC FE991+ or the Viewsonic G90F+ would do nicely too.

Don't buy A90F+!

That is not true, I have one and love it.

i am the "proud": rolleyes: owner of an a90f+. i bought it a week ago and i am ready to return it.

the picture on it is horrible. i am running it at 800x600, where i used to run my last monitor at 1280x1024. i dont know if i just got a bad one, or if they are all like this. there is lots of discolorations in solid colors and if u look closely the screen is constantly moving. there are lines going up and down the whole screen and its damn annoying.

also, its huge, even for a 19". its 20" tall, 18" wide, 19" DEEP.

I think you guys need to learn how to adjust stuff on you monitor, im running 1024x768 at 105hz here and it looks great even with this onboard video im using.

Your right, 1600x1200 is available if 68Hz is usable to you. But then you go on to claim you run at XGA, so really, the stupid in your posts just cancelled each other out.

WTF are you talking about? 1600x1200 makes stuff to small an a 19 inch monitor anyhow. I am running 1024x768 which is perfect and goes at 105hz.

And yes im using onboard video for this comp until I sell some more pc's so I can buy a 9600xt for, this is not my primary rig anyhow.

I'm sorry but my A90f is ONE of the sharpest monitors I've ever used. I've had mine for the last 2 years and have had no problems. The only thing I didn't like about was that it was heavy but I just bought a Samsung 191t this week.

I have been leaning towards the G90F+. None of the local shops have decent monitors so I'd be ordering online.
The trouble now is I've been looking at flat panels. mmmm lcd

I just bought the Samsung SyncMaster 955DF and like it really well....sharp pics, nice and bright....just my .02;)

You have to set it up correctly. Yeah the A90f+ looks like crap AT BestBuy and AT CircuitCity. I actually observed it at Comp USA and then went to BestBuy and could not believe it was the same monitor. The monitor is sharp.

I own the A90f+ and it is great.

You might check over at the Sharkyextreme monthly PC guides - they usually have some pretty good recommendations when it comes to most components.

Good luck - For what it's worth, I love my Sony CPD-G420S -

Yes, Sony has awesome monitors. I have the older G400 model that I painted black and I love it.

I'll be getting the Viewsonic G90f. Very solid monitor, and cheaper than the p95f+. Viewsonic owns.
