Basically going to be running 7970 in Crossfire. I was considering the Asus Ares, but to be honest it's overpriced, and two 7970 in crossfire is cheaper, and preform relatively the same.

I want to know the best 7970 card to get. I don't really care about the price, or if two 7950's perform the same as the 7970, just looking for the best 7970 to get at this moment.. I thought the lightning and matrix were the best, but I can't seem to purchase them anywhere, anymore. So can someone please provide me with some help?

I prefer reference cards for multi-gpu configurations because most cards with non-reference coolers end up blowing hot air next to eachother which isn't ideal. This in contrast to blower style reference cards exhaust hot air out the back of your case.

The Diamond reference model for $419.99 is what I'd buy if I was running two on air: http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Radeo...&ie=UTF8&qid=1360622670&sr=1-57&keywords=7970

These cards really need to be underwater to get the maximum potential out of them.

Fyi, the limited run of Matrix series cards usually sell out within a month or so. They are great cards, and if you want one you have to grab it right away and pay premium for it.

The lightening cards stay around longer, but not indefinitely.
