need help, cant boot to bios

my old computer wont boot into bios.

i bought a 6600gt for my old computer, then realized performance was bottlenecked so got a whole new computer.

now i also took out the ram and my hard drive from old computer to put it in my new computer, but then put those items back.
i had my new 6600gt in there but have since took it out and put back my old fx5200

the computer specs:
P4 1.8ghz
512mb ram
geforce fx5200
cd drive
cdrw drive
60gb hard drive
and a generic power supply that came with the case
and the motherboard is msi 6457 ultra i believe

basically when it starts, there is one beep, then the cd, cdrw and the hdd led's just keep blinking, forever.

and also, my monitor goes black, instead of having the box that says "this monitor is working correctly, please check video cables etc" when u have your monitor on but not your computer

i have tried reseting the jumpers, taking out the batteries, unplugging/replugging everything back in

please help!

One beep and no video usually means bad memory, but I could be wrong. Check out this link.

remove all the drives and then see if it will POST ... I thought one beep, means succesfull post.

I had a problem like that once, and it turned out to be my generic crappy power supply. I would try and turn on the computer, and the fans would turn for like half a second, the monitor would be black, and the cd drive's light would be on for as long as the power was. oh and the keyboard lights would stay on as well. Check to see if there are any status LED's on your mobo, that might tell you something.
