Hello all this is my first thread, Im going to make a new comp and all i have right now is a $750.00 spending limit for the entire system. Can anyone help me get the most proformance for gaming and overclocking for the money.

Please tell me:

What Mobo: Price and Link
What Ram: Price and Link
What CPU: Price and Link
What Vid Card: Price and Link
What Case: Price and Link

All help is greatly appriciated.
Thanks,
Brandon

What Mobo: Price and Link abit IS7 retail $99 shipped
What Ram: Price and Link Twinmos 2x256 memoryx.com $106
What CPU: Price and Link 2.4C-2.8C $169-$189
What Vid Card: Price and Link 9500 pro $100-$125 from this forum
What Case: Price and Link CHIEFTEC Black Server Case with 450W Power Supply, Model "AX-01BLD" -RETAIL -OEM $105 shipped

ram is from memoryx.com rest is from newegg.com

the high side is $624 low about $586 good luck

What smokinjryan said, but spend another 100 bucks and get a 9800 pro, you'll still be under your $750 limit and you'll have a much better perfoming rig.

If $750 is your limit, go with AMD.

In that case...

Board - $104
CPU - $78
RAM1 RAM2 - $161, both are BH-5
Video Card - $204, nVidia is more expensive :|
Case - $49, comes with a POS 420W PSU.
Power Supply - $66 it kicks ass!
Heatsink - $49

Total is $711, a bit more if you include shipping. Oh, and you will need a fan for the heatsink i would recommend the high-speed Panaflo 92MM fan, it has the best performance vs noise ratio (58.4 CFM for 32 dB(A)). But you could put whatever you like on it.

Also, this assumes that you only get 512 megs of ram. You can get 512 more for another $160... for some reason the prices for ram went through the celeing lately.

One more thing, You didn't want any hard drives or optical drives. Optical drives will cost your about $110 (for botha a dvdrom and a dvdwriter), and the same $110 for a 36.7 gig WD raptor.

Thanks everyone for the replys i will begin to order everything shortly :) i decided to get the SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800 PRO and Abit IC7, P4 2.6C, still deciding on what RAM to buy :(

ANY ONE KNOW WHAT IS GOOD RAM SO I CAN OVERCLOCK THE 2.6 TO A 3.2 With out having a MEM prob?

Thanks

Im really not sure what makes me like Intel more than AMD i guess that it becasue i have only used Intel Machines.... i guess its just personal preference.

The 2400+ mobile barton can easily match that prescott, at $78 for the chip. And yeah, they both do the exact same thing. Just differently.

I'm not a fanboy, i like both Intel and AMD, but AMD holds the performace versus price ratio with an iron fist. Once again, you're only paying $78 for a processor that can scale to 2.5-2.7 Ghz on air, and has a short pipeline, making it deadly effecient at those speeds.

this is why you guys no nothing,,,listen land learn...BH5 how much voltage are you going to need to overclock a 2.4C to 3.2ghz duh do you think 2.77 volts is enough for a since the IC7 undervolts....duh!!! ita P4 you dont buy any DDR400 Ram when you really want to overclock...unless you are going to be doing volt mods on your brand new MB...you better not listen to what everyone say and do some research...cause only a few people really know what there talking about in here!!! You know who you are!!;)

dont try to impress when you dont know what you are talking about...but I do agree a nice AMD cpu is also a choice...but there is no way the nforce2 chipset is more stable then the I875

1) you can do 3.3Vdimm to go up to theoretical ddr 680-700 speeds. You could also easily attain 500 on 3.0-3.2
2) only old revisions of IC7 undervolt rev 1.8 and up don't
3) zero wing called and they want their grammar back.

Are you stupid?? That 3200 owns the geil crap. It's bh-5, beeyatch.

that isn't BH-5
it's 2-3-3-6
BH-5 is discontinued and sold out, and it runs at 2-2-2-5

I have two of those, and it's BH-5. Those sticks, are in fact discontinued. And those are only the recommended timings, they can easily do better, if you up the vdimm from the (also recommended) 2.6.

Oh, and I have the black ones. Not sure about the C2PT, but several people and articles mentioning that both are a 100% source of BH-5, just like Mushkin lvl 2, and that Kingston stick with a really long code.
